Pedro Eiras, Trilogy: Inferno (2020), Purgatorio (2021), Paraíso (2022)

Portuguese poet Pedro Eiras’s Inferno is the first of three volumes of poetry engaging directly with Dante’s Divine Comedy. In Inferno, Eiras uses irony and social commentary to weave a poetic satire of a 21st-century hell-on-earth across 33 poems composed in free verse. Inferno, the first of the three, was released by Brazilian publisher Assírio & Alvim in 2020. The other two volumes followed in 2021 and 2022. Both Inferno and Paraíso were finalists for the Oceanos Prize.
