Dante’s Inferno: Group Exhibition at Unit London (2024)

“This group exhibition, held at Unit London between 28 September and 3 November 2024, reimagined Dante’s journey through Hell in painting, sculpture, and other media. The exhibition brought together works by diverse contemporary artists (Erica Mao, Andrea Breiling, Antony Micallef, Marcelle Hanselaar, Falk Gernegroß, Maggie Ellis, Becky Tucker, Jake Wood-Evans, Darcey Fleming, Kenrick MacFarlane, Becky Tucker, Rex Southwick, Oleksii Shcherbak, Malene Hartmann Rasmussen, Yaya Yajie Liang, and Albie Romero). Each artist had been tasked with presenting one of the nine circles of Inferno, although some also took inspiration from Purgatorio. Exploring the enduring fascination with the afterlife’s darker side, the exhibition invited the viewers to ask how our contemporary perception of damnation might be influenced by the rich theological and artistic heritage of medieval Italy.”    –Aistė Kiltinavičiūtė
