Dante’s Hot Chicken (2023)
Dante’s Hot Chicken is a Nashville-inspired fried chicken fast-food franchise with well over two dozen locations across Australia. Their marketing campaigns feature puns on heaven and hell, redemption, and the Divine Comedy. The heat scale, pictured above, runs from “Divine” (no heat) to “Inferno” (hottest), with “Abandon all hope” as the middle step.
According to QSR Media, the brand was opened by Concept Eight in 2023: “Quick service brand operator Concept Eight is entering the hot chicken market with the launch of its new brand, Dante’s Hot Chicken.
“Dante’s Hot Chicken take its name from the Italian poem the Divine Comedy, where the main character, Dante, takes his journey through the rings of hell to salvation. Dante’s Hot Chicken takes guests on a similar experience, offering a choice of five different heat levels depending on how much spiciness they can endure, from the safe yet divine first level to the dangerous inferno of the fifth level.” –QSR Media AUS, 2023
